The French Diet, 2008

I was asked to make a piece for the exhibition Recyclight hosted by Electrorama in Paris.

I started to think about my relation to France, and Paris in particular. Except a visit to Bretagne in my childhood and one trip to Paris last summer  there wasn’t much more. Then I came to think of The French diet.

Once in the late nineties I tried a slimming cure called “The French diet”. It consisted of black coffee and sugar cubes and didn’t work very well. Occasionally I look back on my attempt to loose weight and the memory comes with an embarrassed smile. I’m now recycling and transforming the dieting method and use it for a collection of lamps.

The materials used are old coffee grounds and sugar cast into new enlightening objects. The collection consists of four different lamps.
